A Georgia Girl in Germany

Nana and Papa are visiting us over Spring Break, and the kids are very excited to have them here. Benjamin is especially glad to have his “Nanny and Poppy” here. This afternoon, Nana and I went to the playground with Zachary and MacKenzie while Benjamin settled into his “quiet time” in his room. I was hoping he’d konk out and take a nap while reading books, but no such luck. However, when I returned, this is the scene I discovered. I knew Papa was napping before I left, but I was surprised to see Benjamin lying so still with his eyes closed. It didn’t last though. As soon as I snapped this photo, Benjamin sat up with a big grin -- he had been faking it to trick me, and Papa enjoyed playing along...I’m sure the extra cuddle time was a nice bonus too!

Later this afternoon, the kids were playing Uno with Nana. Benjamin had won three games in a row (talk about a little card shark like his mom and Uncle Bubba!), so as the cards were dealt, Nana jokingly told him that she was going to beat him. In all seriousness, he looked back at her and told her he would hit her! He thought she was about to pick a fight, and he was standing up for himself. She quickly had to clarify that she was going to “win” the next game, and that she had no intention to actually “beat” him.

And, no, Nana didn’t win that game...but neither did Benjamin (Zachary did).
