Fest Time Again!
Back in October, it was fest time again -- Oktoberfest in Munich and the Bad Cannstatt Volksfest here in Stuttgart. It’s really like a large state fair, but the kids enjoy heading out for a night of fun.
Of course, we had to ride a few rides. Zachary ended up riding this one by himself since there was a free-for-all getting on the ride, and no more room on a previous run. He didn’t seem to mind though, although he seemed glad (and a little dizzy!) when the ride stopped.
Benjamin opted for a much more kid-friendly ride, and enjoyed giving out high fives each time he came around.
We all rode through a haunted house. Yes, Benjamin had to cuddle with me. The ride wasn’t terribly scary, although this large-handed ghoul near the end of the ride made Benjamin jump. Good thing he felt safe cuddled next to me.
I had to share this night scene showing the lights. The Germans really know how to have a fest! The Volksfest is the second-largest fest in Germany, and the one that’s more traditionally German (fewer tourists).
Finally, we couldn’t leave the fest without sampling the chocolate-covered strawberries. We only got three sticks of strawberries and each of us shared with Benjamin. Unfortunately, he realized that he had the raw end of the deal and wasn’t too pleased. I suppose that’s the last time we’ll be able to pull that off!
