Sweetest Day

Valentine’s Day was a great day for the Cook kids. MacKenzie woke up that morning and immediately asked me for her present. Nope, I made her wait until after school. Actually, I made her wait until after supper. I don’t think they were disappointed though. Zachary and Benjamin showed off their new watches, while MacKenzie displayed her new cross-pendant necklace. Benjamin’s watch is an “Incredibles” theme watch, complete with a red laser on the side. The band on Zachary’s old watch broke three days before Valentine’s Day, so he received his gift early, but he was a good sport about not boasting to the others that he’d already received his gift. Of course, the heart-shaped “Peeps” marshmallows were a hit too.

Nana and Papa also sent new Webkinz for them. They all rushed to the computer to officially adopt their new friends: Thunder, Mudball and Peanut.

You can hardly tell in these photos that Zachary had a permanent tooth extracted from the gum earlier that afternoon. It was very traumatic -- much worse than when he had five teeth pulled last October (four baby teeth though). On another note (literally), when we arrived at the dentist’s office that afternoon, we were greeted by a Barbershop Quartet as it began singing love songs for the clinic staff and patients. It was a nice show and a short distraction before the dreaded tooth-pulling began.
