Legoland Part Zwei

After a day traipsing through France, MacKenzie and Benjamin were excited when I took them to Legoland. We started off the day by racing at the Drome Racing. MacKenzie and Jaelin were in the lead for most of the race, but I had to chuckle when their car stalled out halfway across the finish line. Everyone passed them, even Janae and her mom Carri, who brought up the rear. The scene reminded me of a story my Uncle Ronnie (a former racecar driver) told me years ago about the requirement that only a part of the car needs to cross the finish line with the driver to win. (I don’t know how much validity there is to his story of removing the steering wheel from his car, climbing out the window and running toward the finish line after he miscalculated his fuel and came to a complete stop mere yards from the checkered flag...knowing him, it’s probably a tall tale.)

After that experience and lunch, we headed toward the water rides. MacKenzie and Jaelin enjoyed spinning around the Waving Rider trying to avoid the water sprays from onlookers. Benjamin also got a kick out of whipping around the ride as the centrifugal force swung us around...he had the silly giggles!

After that, we slowed our pace a little so the kids could pan for gold. MacKenzie didn’t take any time at all learning how to sift through the sand. Benjamin, on the other hand, wasn’t interested in sifting. In fact, he didn’t use the sifter at all, and opted instead to play with the smaller pan designed to collect the “gold” nuggets. At least they both enjoyed themselves!

Toward the end of the day, we found one more water ride. This time MacKenzie and Jaelin legitimately had the slowest craft on the water, but didn’t seem too disappointed when everyone else passed them.

Even though we got a relatively early start at the park (considering our late night the night before after returning from Reims), we still didn’t get to see the entire park...in particular, the new part. Zachary was disappointed when he returned from England to discover that we went without him, but wasn’t too upset since he (and MacKenzie) went a few days later with their summer camp.
